Transport in China - Airports
All major cities have airports. The location of these however can sometimes be located in very inconvenient places that cost an arm and a leg to get to. When travelling or moving to China for the first time everything gets a bit confusing and it all starts in the airports. Make sure you are fully prepared and have a set plan before you head to the airports.
Tip 1 – Never get in a taxi that isn't from a taxi rank. They will almost always try and rip you off. If they are from a taxi rank make sure you have the name and address of the place you want to go to written down in Chinese or have a Chinese speaker on hand ready to speak to the driver on the phone.
Tip 2 – Like any airport always arrive with plenty of time to spare. Airports can be rammed at certain times (especially Spring Festival) and you don’t want to be stood in a queue while the rest of your plane is already boarding!
Tip 3 – Look for your check in desk carefully. Chinese airports are often confusing and you could quite easily end up queuing at the wrong check up desk for 30 minutes just for them to say “oh, it’s over there, not here” which as you can imagine is the last thing you want to hear when you're running late.
Tip 4 - When leaving the airport the best way to travel is a taxi. Saying this however, there can be a long wait and if you're going a fair distance it can add up. Another viable option is to catch a bus. So look out for ticket office signs and show them on a map or the address for where you want to go.
Follow these simple tips and getting on the right plane will be a piece of cake!
